Moving around a large city such as Rio de Janeiro is a big challenge, and the youth are amongst the top users of the local public transportation system.
With the objective of bringing them closer to the various decision makers that control the system, 60 youth representatives were sponsored by the transport federation to participate at ETRANSPORT, one of the largest transportation conferences that happens biannually in Brazil. The youth aged 12 - 28 from different areas of Rio Janeiro, took part in many activities developed using different participatory methodologies in order to increase their voices and lower the gaps.
One of the activities was learning and producing a participatory video reflecting their voices and perspectives on trends and alternative solutions that can help their mobility in Rio de Janeiro. Their film was presented at the conference closing session where over 300 decision makers watched the youth's video with surprised and joyful faces. Overall the qualified audience was very impressed with their courage, creativity and speed on addressing important messages to such an unique crowd.
