Macedonia :: Participatory Video on adaptation to climate change and disaster preparedness In November 2012, Proplaneta worked with The Macedonian Red Cross facilitating a participatory video with community members and Red Cross volunteers of Kriva Palanka town.

A group of 20 people between 20 - 60 learned how to manage the filming equipment and how to to report in front of the camera. After a group discussion, they selected which climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness messages were most important to be part of their video. They interviewed many villagers in the surrounding mountain area and identified and captured 10 important messages they thought were important to share with other communities.
Their video was edited on a participatory approach. As it was a large group and everyone had a right to say, the editing session took over 10 hours. Thanks to the good relationship of the Red Cross with Kriva Palanka's local TV channel - The Golden Channel - their video was broadcasted in the next morning and repeated many times during the following week. We watched together their big achievement at a café along with other community members. A debate was held after the screening to learn which messages the viewers liked most and how they could adopt these examples in their daily lives.
