Proplaneta is supporting the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies office in Geneva on developing a collection of videos with local experiences on disaster response and disaster preparedness, identified and filmed by multiple National Societies Disaster Response Teams around the World.
The goal with this project is to provide National Societies an additional and innovative way other than written cases, to share experiences on CDRT/BDRT/ NDRT in their own local perspectives, style and importantly, holding full editorial control as they are the “Film Directors".
This project is currently being developed and will be launched in mid 2014.
In April 2014 Proplaneta was at Simanjiro District in Northern Tanzania facilitating 14 Maasai community members to show and tell the world the importance of receiving climate change information and seasonal forecast for their livelihoods improvement.
This video exercise is a bottom up participatory process that empowered a Maasai Community to craft and send their message out about their reality and need for climate information. It is an attempt to connect the dots between the ground and the higher levels, including government representatives and researchers.
This activity is part of the The Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS), an international partnership that aims to "fast-track" the establishment of climate services - such as seasonal outlooks - in developing countries which are most exposed to climate change and extreme weather risks, and to ensure that these services reach the most vulnerable communities on the ground.
In June 2013, Proplaneta trained and facilitated a group of ECANC Cocoa cooperative farmers in the region of Soubre, Côte D’Ivoire to video-document in their own perspective, their views on cocoa certification processes, including challenges, opportunities and suggestions.
